Service Dog Training
A certified service dog offers life-changing support, providing independence and confidence to individuals with specific needs. The path to a fully certified service animal, however, requires more than mastering basic commands. It demands specialized, disciplined training that prepares your dog for complex public access tasks and reliable performance in any environment.
Southeast Elite Working Dogs professionally trains service dogs and ensures that each dog meets or exceeds national standards to be truly prepared for its vital role. Our real-world training approach develops calm, focused, and dependable dogs. We also guide handlers through every stage, from basic obedience to advanced task skills and public access certification.

Our Comprehensive Service Dog Training Programs
Our structured training programs cater to the unique requirements of service animal work. We develop each dog to its fullest potential, ensuring it performs its duties with precision and reliability. By working with us for service dog training, you also gain access to training and certification through the National Service Dog Registry, giving you a trusted partner you can depend on.
Our training curriculum includes:
- Basic Obedience: We begin with basic obedience training where your dog will learn essential on-leash commands such as sit, stay, down, heel, “leave it,” place, and more. We’ll also expose your dog to various socialization techniques in populated, public spaces.

- Advanced obedience: During advanced obedience, your dog will learn to obey commands on and off the leash; we’ll continue working on sit, stay, heel, come, “leave it,” among others. We will also work in public spaces to expose your dog to different distractions and teach them to fix their attention on you.

- Public access skills: A service dog must be unobtrusive and well-behaved everywhere it goes. We train dogs to navigate crowded stores, restaurants, and public transportation with calm confidence. This includes teaching them to remain settled for extended periods and to avoid interaction with strangers or other animals.

- Task-specific training: Every service dog has a unique job ranging from seizure alert to assisting owners with PTSD. We work with you to identify and train your dog in the specific tasks it needs to perform, whether it's retrieving items, providing mobility support, or alerting to medical conditions (seizures, diabetes, PTSD, anxiety, etc.). Our scenario-based methods ensure the dog can perform these duties reliably when it matters most.
